Talking to Clients About Project Issues - Robyn Birkedal
Published at : February 07, 2022
If you have a significant issue on your project several days before your client conversation status report, don't wait to have that conversation.
If you wait for the status report, the client will say, "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
They'll likely request a redirection or perhaps to drop the problematic feature entirely, and you'll find you and your team wasted effort that could have been put into better communication.
So if you have a developer tell you that a migration is going to take 5x longer than originally thought, find out if there is any workaround. If there isn't, go to the client and ask for guidance.
Remember, it's better to be safe than sorry. Clear communication goes a long way in building trust with clients.
